Hace
It's been a while since I showed you some skeins for a new project, but didn't tell you what it was about... At Knitty Spring-Summer 2011 issue I discovered the Corinne cardigan. I fell in love with it immediately, I had to have it, so I bought some lovely skeins of Katia Caricia 100% merino wool in order to knit this. For me, it was one of those patterns that catch your eye!
It is knitted sideways, and it is shaped with short rows, so it has an interesting construction in my opinion. It is an easy pattern, garter stitch and short rows, the last I learnt at Knitting Help and some YouTube tutorials. I thought it would be an easy knit...
But then first problem arrived: Tension! I tend to knit loosely. For this project I made a gauge swatch and made adjustments, but after several rows the stitches were too loose again... Then I decided to frog and begin again. Second time was fine, but I noticed that, some days, tension was not correct. I reviewed my gauge, made some more gauge swatches, read about gauge in some places.... Conclusion: gauge depends on the day I have... I decided to go on knitting. The result has been rather uniform, I guess it is going to be fine after washing and blocking.
But then, second problem was there: Boredom! It was a never ending story to me, so much garter stitch, so I left it for some time. In October I picked it up again, but I couldn't resist the temptations of new interesting projects, so I put the project on ice again...
Some days ago I got back in the lane for the third time, and I am determined to finish it in one go. I've reached the second sleeve, only that and the second front part are left. I hope I am able to finish this cardigan at last, I want to wear it right away! What do you think?
