Ciao, 2011!

Espero poder cumplirlo, no?
Feliz Año Nuevo a todos!

This year I have had periods of less or more crafting activity. Now I see I have made many things.
Mostly I have learned a lot about knitting. I hope to go on learning and improving my knitting.
However, my most important resolution for 2012 is... to be able to post on this blog more frequently. I hope I can accomplish this goal!
Happy New Year!

Hola!

By the way, Happy Holidays!!

Zucca's Shawl

He hecho la versión pequeña, tamaño shawlette.

I have to show you some little things I've been doing lately.
One is Zucca's Shawl by Emma Fassio. I really enjoyed knitting it, since it was easy and fast knitting. I made the small version, shawlette size.
It is double-stranded, with two different yarns. First one is Katia Laine Nylon, the other Madil Yarns Kid Seta. Both in a creamy shade. I love the arrangement, since Katia is so comfortable and Kid Seta has that mohair look I love. That's why I have named it "Azúcar" (Sugar in Spanish).
I must say I wear it daily, it is so warm and it goes with everything! I hope you like it.
Those of you who are beginners like me, let me encorauge you to knit this pattern. It is much easier than it looks, and a good practice.

Saroyan - Follas

Long time no write!
In case anyone out there still wants to read this, today I would like to show you the last thing I've knitted. This is Saroyan, a surprise gift for my best friend. The project is called Follas, in Galician language it means leaves.
For my friend, any type of wool is itchy, even those for babies. So I have chosen this yarn with 54% cotton and 46% viscose rayon. I love the color and brightness of it. However is has been difficult to knit at times: slippy and splitted with the tip of the needles. So I had to knit very carefully.
I've done something thin, about 27 cm at its widest point and about 145 cm long. She's not so sensitive to cold so I think this will do well.
It has been slow to knit, I do not know why... The pattern was easy and the leaves part was fun to be done. I like the final result, particularly because of the smooth texture and brightness of this yarn.
I hope you like it!

A few weeks ago, Calderins at Ravelry offered a mini-kit for dyeing with natural dyes, so that some people may test them.
I got a packet with:
- A mini-skein of wool, ready for dyeing,
- An envelope with onion leaves,
- And instructions.
Being the first time I was
dyeing anything, I found instructions very clear. All steps explained, so glad ...
First, dye was heated in order to release colour, then wool went inside the bath.
After rinsing, drying and color setting, it looks like this.
I must say I have loved the experience, and I want to learn more ways of
dyeing, with other natural dyes or with Kool-Aid, as some friends of Lerias & Enredos did here.

Mi primera chaqueta / My first jacket

I have finished my first jacket! I though it would be much more difficult, but in the end it has been quite easy. The pattern chosen is Shalom Cardigan, by Meghan McFarlane. It is very well explained, and with bulky yarn, so this project was speedy.
Yarn used was Cascade Ecological Wool in grey colour, chosen by my sister Mara. I knitted this cardi for her. Doesn't it suit her?
I have more to show you, as for example, the destination project for these wool skeins.. But this will be some other day!

SIBOL SWAP

You already know I am a Sibolette. I crochet squares for SIBOL. At Ravelry, they are organising a swap between SIBOL members. It is a monthy swap, some of us have joined in up to now. I is being a success.
You can see what I sent to Beverley, baw1812,who was my swap partner. We had to send a pair of squares, a small crocheted gift and a postcard. I think Beverley, who asked for white squares, liked what she received.

But look what I received from Farruska! I love it, many thanks!
As it is a monthly swap, I want to receive squares from everywhere, and make a blanket at the end What do you think about it?

Chal Clapotis terminado / Clapotis shawl finished

Al fin lo terminé!
 At last it is finished!

As my second knitting project ever, I've been able to finish it rather easily.

I love the final result! And I have enjoyed knitting Noro Kureyon Sock.

Calceta y cuadraditos / Knitting and squares

Y 10665 visitas!

Que tengáis una buena semana!

It has been so long since I wrote the last time. This last month has been a bit difficult in several ways, but let's make a fresh start.
I have been practising a lot with two needles. I did this cowl, the Feroche Brioche, pattern at Ravelry. This is the first knitting project I finish. It has been a learning practice for me. Although it has a lot of mistakes, I am very happy with the result.

The yarn I used is Rowan Kid Classic, I liked it very much.
I have also made some crocheted squares for SIBOL. I did not make any photos before sending them out, so I show some that Mrs. Twins has on Flickr. I hope you don't mind Sue!
I feel knitting quite comfortable, so I made my mind and have begun a Clapotis, thanks to the KAL that the girls at Lerias e Enredos are having at Ravelry. You can check my progress. The yarn used is Noro Kureyon Sock, and I love it!
I also want to thank you, I have 102 followers already! And 10665 visits!
Have a nice week!

Sitios donde aprender cosas / Places where you can learn new things

If you are like me, you like learning new things every day and searching for information on your own, this post is going to be useful for you.
Now I am going on two needles, I am encountering doubts at every step. Most of them are solved at
Knitting Help. There are a lot of tutorias, mostly in video, which makes easier to learn how things are actually done. Very comprehensive and recommended.
Very interesting too, Knitpicks inside tutorials section. They go from beginner till more advanced techniques, including vídeos and advice.
At TataTatao there is a good compilation of information about knitting, with videos, examples, information and patterns.
At Learn How to Knit there are a lot of instructions, not only about knitting but also crochet. Very complete!
Another site I usually visit is Tejiendo Peru. There are video tutorials, photos and written directions. Good explanations made by Esperanza Rosas.
Guía para Tejer Bien is the same style, with explanations and videos. You can find knitting and crochet stuff. Step by step instructions. A site to consider.
There are a lot of sites to visit if you want to learn how to crochet. Fun Crochet has tutorials, information and free patterns to begin.
I suscribed to Crochet Spot, where Rachel Choi shows us tutorials, patterns and very interesting articles about crochet.
Some time in the past I mentioned El Duende de los Hilos. In this blog there are amigurumi lessons, super-advisable. Directions on how to learn to make amigurumis since the beginning steps, including all details, and giving the amigurumis a final touch.
Here you have a site where you can learn everything about Tunisian crochet, including videos of course.
At Raverly, there is a lot of information. Both groups Learn Crochet and The Learning Lounge- Knitting for Beginners are good sources of information, since the forums are always there with an  answer to your question!
Of course, we always have Youtube, with a really big amount of videos to learn from. For me, videos are very useful, mainly when practising new stitches.
Sure there are many interesting places not mentioned here, it is a matter of further research on the web...

3ª Quedada Galega del grupo Ravelry "Lerias e Enredos" 3rd Galician Meeting Ravelry Group "Lerias e Enredos"

Hola!

Muchas gracias Volvoreta!

Hello!
Last week I was a bit missing. The truth is that all the girls in the Ravelry group "Lerias y Enredos" were preparing the 3rd Galician Meeting . Actually for me it was the first, since I was not at the previous meetings. I loved meeting all the girls. I really enjoyed it,  we knitted/crocheted, we laughed a lot and had a really good time. We were: Alfanhui
Volvoreta
Beatriz77
Mfonor
Tecelá
MartaCV
Rastafari
Martameiga
Tartaruga
Lacami
Laura Pombo
Fíos
Suntropia
Siruveru
and Merchy

We missed Nubecinha, who couldn't make it!!
So, a lot of crazy girls together. We stayed together from morning until evening, so we were able to knit a lot! People kept on staring at us, since in Spain is not common to see people knitting in public, and being 15 girls you can imagine! So it was fun! Coffee/tea and knit, the best to spend all day! We even went into a yarn store and fill it up, the shop assistants were clearly delighted with us there. :-)

And we are already planning next meeting, we want to repeat it!
One of the things we had prepared was the invisible friend's game, it was a gift made by each of ourselves for another of us, randomly selected. I was happy, because Martameiga, was very pleased with the gift I had prepared for her. I was really fascinated with the gift I received from Volvoreta.
Martameiga loves Blythe dolls, and this is what I did, a dress for hers.
And Volvoreta gave me a beautiful mini shawl, and she also made it the right color for me! I love the leaf motifs, and it is soooo warm! And with the cold weather we are having these days... Volvoreta thank you very much!

I want to show some gifts I have done for my friends.
Nani, who had made the hook case for me, received the Queen Anne scarf that you can see in the photos above.
She loves the first one I had done, so I crocheted this one for her as a gift. I used the same Rowan Tapestry, but this time in pink shades. I used a larger hook this time, 6 mm. I like the final look.
This was a surprise for her, and I am very happy because I now she likes it. Doesn't the scarf look cool on her?
On the other hand, my friend Helena loves brooches and particularly cameos. So,I chose the pattern of the flower Scabious, from the book "100 flowers to Knit & Crochet" by Lesley Standfield. I made one in blue tones. Then, in the center of the flower I added a small badge in the shape of a cameo, that I bought at a flea market (how many treasures can be found in markets!!). As I see it, it has a classical touch but that colour combines perfectly with denim.

Chal Eva/Eva's Shawl

Hola!

Hi everybody,
It has been so long since the last time I updated my blog. I am starting the year with enthusiasm, and now I want to show you all the shawl I gave my mother for her birthday, which was yesterday. The shawl was finished a while ago but I couldn't show you up to now, it was a surprise!
The pattern is Eva's Shawl, you can find it here. I have really enjoyed working on this shawl. It was easy and I think I'll make more of these.
For this special project I have used a special yarn. It is Madil Yarns Kid Seta (Cascade), 70% mohair and 30% silk, in a beautiful pink shade.

Today I also want to tell you that, from now on, I will try to write my blog in English too, since I have so many  followers from non-Spanish speaking countries. Thanks for following me and Happy New Year to you all!
